One fewer tab between talking through a task and getting it done sounds welcome. The catch is that chat and coding work will also start sharing the same usage allowance.
Chat and Work are moving in together
OpenAI is preparing to merge ChatGPT’s Chat and Work tabs, starting with select users for feedback before a wider rollout. In an email to users, OpenAI says the combined experience will let people move from exploring an idea to having ChatGPT carry it through in one place.
That includes bringing in files and plugins, building a website, creating a presentation, or doing things on the web while you review and guide the work. If you already use ChatGPT to plan a presentation, this is meant to remove the handoff between discussing it and making it. Fewer places to lose a project is a perfectly respectable feature.
For anyone also using Codex, the allowance change deserves closer attention than the rearranged tabs. OpenAI says ChatGPT and Codex will draw tokens, the units used to measure model usage, from the same pool. The company says most users won’t be affected, but some may have to wait for resets more frequently, depending on usage and model. Codex itself will remain a separate experience in the desktop app.
A watch that catches what you missed
Apple’s Audio Intelligence features are entering developer beta testing with iOS 27.3 for Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4. These are opt-in features, with public beta testing to come before general availability.
The two work-relevant additions are Live Rewind and Siri Recaps. Apple says a double-press of the digital crown can display the last 15 seconds of conversation as text. A chime and animation signal the action; unsaved snippets disappear after 30 seconds.
Siri Recaps produces a short summary and bullet points that can include deadlines or pricing. Apple says it doesn’t identify speakers, save raw audio, or provide word-for-word transcripts. That makes it potentially helpful when your hands are full during a meeting, though anyone seeking a verbatim record needs a different tool. Recapping can run manually or on a schedule, and recaps you don’t save delete themselves within seven days.
A security deadline for public repositories
GitHub’s new workflow protection will block `pull_request_target` events by default in public repositories starting December 2, a month later than previously scheduled. GitHub says these workflows can access repository secrets, which creates a risk if they execute untrusted code.
If you or your coding agent maintain a public repository, check GitHub’s Insights view for affected runs before the first temporary enforcement window. Workflows that depend on this trigger can be explicitly allowed through an event policy.
The change covers GitHub Free, Team and Enterprise Cloud public repositories; private and internal repositories aren’t affected. Temporary enforcement runs November 9 and 16, from 16:00 to 18:00 UTC.
