A face for live AI conversations
Google’s Gemini 3.8 Live with Live Avatar pairs its live dialogue model with streaming video. Google says the avatar can see and hear what is happening, then respond with synchronized speech, expressions and video while background tools fetch information without stopping the conversation.
It is available in Gemini Enterprise. Google says it can transition across 97 languages, while creating a custom avatar from a reference image requires enterprise allowlisting.
Build a game from your phone
Meta’s Horizon Create and Horizon Studio turn written descriptions into playable 2D or 3D games. Create is a mobile app; Studio runs in a browser with visual controls for arranging scenes, swapping assets and adjusting behavior.
Projects move between the two tools, including their assets and iteration history. Meta says published games can become eligible for distribution across Facebook, Instagram and Horizon, but early access is rolling out gradually through a waitlist.
Claude searches DNA for unusual patterns
Anthropic’s new biology lab reports that Claude agents gathered more than 200,000 reverse transcriptases, which are enzymes that copy RNA into DNA. The agents narrowed these to 3,500 candidate systems and produced reports on the 20 most promising.
Claude flagged a repeating DNA pattern beside an unusual reverse transcriptase. Anthropic’s first experiments found that the array produces distinct short RNAs, but the system’s function remains unknown. Human scientists performed all lab work, and Anthropic has released the early findings as a preprint.
